February’s Minoa Book Club turns to The Director by Daniel Kehlmann, on February 15 at Minoa Pera, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

Longlisted for the 2025 International Booker Prize, Daniel Kehlmann’s The Director asks what happens when artistic ambition meets dictatorship—and how far an artist can compromise before compromise becomes complicity.

About Minoa Book Club:

Some books stay with us long after we turn the final page. And some become even richer when we talk about them together.

This season, we’ll meet once a month on Monday evenings (7:00–8:30 PM) at Minoa Pera to read, think, question, disagree, discover, and simply enjoy talking about good books.

Our reading list takes us across countries, cultures, and very different ways of telling a story: from letters that reveal the hidden shape of a life to love and loneliness; from artificial intelligence and what it means to be human to the complexities of motherhood; from art under dictatorship to witch trials, martyrdom, identity, and the mysteries of performance.

You don’t need to be a literary expert. Bring the book, your curiosity, your questions, and perhaps a passage you loved, or hated. The best conversations often begin when we don’t all read the same book in quite the same way.
